The Tipton FFA Chapter held their end of the year banquet on April 20 at the Tipton high school. New members were honored by receiving their Greenhand Degrees, Chapter Degrees and Iowa Degrees. Other members were recognized for Career Development Events and received Outstanding Member Awards. The top fruit sellers were recognized and the Honorary Member was also recognized. Human Resources Consultant Paul Greufe told Cedar county supervisors April 14 that the county has “no option but to accept common law marriage” when fully insured benefits are offered to employees. He said his research indicates that since the State of Iowa recognizes common law marriage between a male and female, the couple is entitled to all benefits the county offers to married employees, including family funeral leave and health insurance for the spouse.
