Cedar County Fair Season Tickets On Sale
June 20, 2008
Early ticket sales for the Cedar County Fair have started and will continue until June 20 at reduced prices. The adult tickets (13 and over) will be $20, child’s ticket (6 to 12) $12, senior citizen (65 and over) $12. Once the early sale period is over tickets for the fair may still be obtained but the price will increase to $25 and $15.

After a few frustrating days of waiting, on Sunday, June 15, residents who suffered losses as a result of last week’s flooding got the good news that Cedar county had joined a growing group of Iowa counties that are eligible for federal disaster assistance.

What's New At The Tipton Public Library

There is a lot of activity at the Tipton Public Library this month. Over 20 new adult fiction books have been put into circulation, including Robert B. Parker’s “Stranger in Paradise”; Dean Koontz’s “The Darkest Evening of the Year”; and Bodies Thoene’s “Fifth Seal.” In addition, books by W.E.B. Griffin, Nancy Piccard and many other well-known fiction authors have been added to the shelves.

Mechanicsville Lions traveled to Tipton March 15 with their raffle quilts. They sold tickets for the raffle at the Tipton Lions omelet breakfast.

The regular March Lions Club Board meeting was held on Thursday, March 15, 2007 at 8:45 PM at the Tipton Senior Center. Meeting was opened by President Mike Boyle
Four names were submitted for membership. They were: Stephanie L. Penniston and Gary D. Penniston, sponsored by Blanche Ahrens, and Amber Frerichs and Tim S. Frerichs, sponsored by Bob Whitlatch. They were all unanimously approved.

Program Aids In Rural Well Closure

The rescue last week of an Iowa toddler from a southern Iowa well demonstrates the risks associated with abandoned wells and cisterns in the state. It is estimated there are as many as 200,000 wells remaining in Iowa.
